One Strange Trip

I decided to try this whole evacuation thing again. Although it took me 13.5 hours to get to Austin, I feel I made the right decision... See ya Monday

WTF?

It's been pretty stressful in Houston for the past 24 hours.. I just tried to leave my house and head up to Austin, but since yesterday, every route out of town is completely bumper to bumper.. no one is moving.. It took me an hour and a half to go 7 tenths of a mile on I-10. People on the radio are telling stories of evacuees sitting on the freeway for ten hours or more and making no progress. People have run out of gas, cars broken down, it is complete chaos. I decided to turn around and come back home. If nothing more, I hope my stocks go up today.

AEP

Last week I posted an article that talked about the advantage of buying stocks that paid dividends.. American Electric Power Co. Inc. (AEP) is a great company and a wonderful example of what I'm talking about. Right now, this company will pay you 3.6% of your investment annually in dividends. Over time, this can really make you some money.

As you can see, if you had bought this stock 10 years ago, you would now have a gain of 72% from the dividends alone!

Shares of StemCells Inc. (STEM) are on the move today.. The stock gapped up this morning accompanied by huge volume on the news that its stem cells helped restore lost muscle use in mice with spinal cord injuries.
